Rebecca Oates, MMFT, LMFT
Hi! I'm glad you are here. I earned my Master of Marriage and Family Therapy with a concentration in Child and Adolescent Therapy from Abilene Christian University. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas.
Over the years, I worked as a first-grade teacher and as a Certified Dyslexia Therapist within the public-school setting. I have worked as a therapist at a non-profit organization and in a private group practice where I provided therapy to children, teens, families, couples, and individuals.
My goal is to support parents, children, and teens by using a systemic approach that considers past experiences as well as identifying healthier strategies leading to more positive relationships. As a former educator, I understand the obstacles that neurodiverse children and teens face. I offer support to help children, teens, and families understand the unique characteristics of dyslexia, ADHD, and anxiety and how that impacts their daily lives. My clients will tell you that I create a safe, non-judgmental space for them to feel heard and that all responses are welcome in the therapy space, including laughter.
